Very true! I started with some bad quality ones (unknowingly) I think interbred way too much. I added a rooster and then only breed with healthy offspring and all bad quality ones died within the year but at least had a good life with me.I haven't been breeding silkies for very long, but I've never had health issues (minus a wry neck bird from a hatchery who we didn't keep), including genetic stuff. I never breed an unhealthy bird or knowingly breed one with a vaulted skull. Here at Cluck N Crow Farm our motto is:
Health before Quality
Quality before Quantity
What I mean to say is health issues can be breed out, and not all silkies have them!

What a smooth integration!! Now you can relax a bit! Too bad you don't have a chicken cam in thereI went outside to put the chicks in the coop (they were no longer separated from hens inside/outside)
But guess what?
They went in all by themselves and were roosting with near the hens!
So proud of them
