I can't put the white roo back in the coop since Bruiser (my black Silkie roo) beat him up pretty badly. Apparently you can't sell animals anymore on Facebook marketplace. Not sure where else to post him... But if I don't find them homes in the next 2 weeks, I will sadly have to cull them. Ugh... This sucks. 😭
Gorgeous! Wish I could take them! Looks like my cockerel is not improving yet so I only have 1 rooster to 13 girls. .. I hate to see any chicken looking like they're suffering so I don't know how much more I can take of watching poor Burtle hobble and wobble unable to walk without falling over 😢 if he is in pain I'd rather give him a quick neck snap to end his suffering then let him suffer for days 😢

So sorry you have to go through this. I have had chickens make a surprising turn around, when I was convinced they wouldn't. Maybe Burtle just needs a little more time.❤️

I've also had the most luck from Craigslist. There are a lot of flaky people on there and you have to weed those out but there are a lot of normal/nice people too. Your boys are so pretty, hopefully you'll get some interest on whatever platform you use! I've tried Facebook groups as well but don't seem to get as many responses as on craigslist. Maybe if you advertise on multiple platforms you'll get more interest. Good luck, I hope you are able to find your boys some good homes! :fl

Have you guys seen this article on dominant white? Interesting... makes me kind of want to try keeping a paint roo.

Are you interested in trying to make some of the other colors that involve dominant white? I definitely think it is a neat color to work with. The patterned varieties like buff or red laced would probably be really pretty as Satins. And of course I love my paints and it's been fun dabbling with pyle like colorations using the dominant white too. 😊

I'm so sorry about little Burtle. If it's a vitamin deficiency or head trauma I find those often aren't quick fixes, it can take weeks. Most of my birds who've gone through it are back to their normal happy selves after their ordeal though. It's so hard watching them struggle but it's such a great feeling when they start pulling out of it and feeling better again. Good luck with him and I'm so sorry you are both having to go through this. :hugs

It took my little one 4 weeks on vitamins and that little sucker is now flying over the top of everyone like a mini vulture.. has them all running! I think they might just feel "dizzy" from it, rather than have any pain.

Wow really! :eek:4 weeks is a long time, amazing recovery!
Burtle is eating and drinking well on his own but today he has droopy head, maybe he's getting worse 😢 hopefully improvement tomorrow on the vitamins or I might have to put him down. Did your little one improve after a few days or got worse then improved?

I’ve read it can be a very up and down thing for awhile—it takes a bit for the body to absorb some vitamins. I know in humans, Vitamin D takes a long time to increase when you’re at a severe deficit. I was and they had me on a HUGE dose for 3 months and I didn’t really notice any improvement for a good month or more. I’m guessing it takes awhile for chickens too, especially if they have to absorb it thru normal oral ingestion. That’s a much slower way for the vitamins to make it where they need to go. I would say give it at least 2-3 weeks, I know it’s tough to watch and they struggle but if they’re eating and drinking and act fine otherwise—they have a good chance of coming around! ❤️ Poor little chickie!
