I am so happy! I did miraculously get a silkie egg like a week ago so I put it in my incubator when I knew I wasn't going to be able to ship them to the one lady. It has a air cell and little embryo in it!![]()

Oh that is wonderful, I hope everything goes well with the hatch when it is time!

I have two silkie eggs in the incubator at the moment. They are exotic chickens here where I live so I'm hoping they'll hatch out well. Two out of the 4 eggs I bought were not fertilized. Sadly the seller told me "too bad".
Lockdown is at the end of this week! Easter weekend. Looking forward to it so much.
It's always so exciting (and sometimes a little nerve-wracking) when you get to hatch time. I hope both hatch for you!

First time for the 3 nuggets to be out on the grass!
Four weeks old today.
Hotaru’s comb is pinking up a bit. if I didn’t have the DNA test, I would start to wonder!

Aww they look so cute exploring the new environment! It's amazing how much red is coming through on little Hotaru!

Like mother, like daughter. Little Ezzie is quickly developing the cheeky attitude that earned her momma the nickname Cheeky Chiquita.

They sound like characters.

I have a question for the Silkie (more experienced then me) peeps in here...
I have only had my silkies 3 years. I still dont know a bunch, probably way less than I should know, really.
Is this chick considered lavender? There are 2 this color in my clutch of 12. There are 4 that *seem to be black, but i know it can change.
Im pretty sure my rooster is partridge. He has silver and black feathers. I need some educating on my silkies.. I also need to say that I am aware they are not show quality, I'm fine with that for now. I need to learn more before I jump into show quality, and I do plan to when I know more.
Thank yawl!

I agree this one looks like a little blue to me as well. Such a cutie!

True lavenders are hard to come by. This little one's feathers are coming in too dark to be a lavender but even if they were lighter sometimes blues can look as light as lavenders (called self blue in silkies). If a lavender looking baby just pops up chances are good it is not actually lavender based but instead light blue. You can test breed if you ever are questioning between the two colors. Lavender is recessive so breeding to a black should give you all blacks. Blue is dominant and passes on 50% of the time so when bred to a black will give 50% blue offspring and 50% black.

Your rooster sounds like he may be the silver equivalent to partridge which in silkies is called gray (there are some slight differences to proper grays besides the silver vs gold but genetically they are very close to partridge other than the ground color). You might hear this color called silver partridge or silver penciled as well, though if you were showing he'd be listed under gray.
Early babies
I wasn't expecting till Friday! But when I was cleaning the coop I heard cheeeeping! And Chickaletta was constantly bok bok then a fluffy head popped out!!
I bought 5 eggs shipped from another state, 2 hatched out of 5 so far, more pipping now!! No idea what colours they'll be, I hope for some red leakage or some partridge!

Oh that baby is just such a cute little fluffball! Chickaletta is looking pretty cute there herself too!

That is wonderful the shipped eggs were a success! It sounds like you'll get a good hatch from them! I hope you get some colors you like as well.
