I had 3 of the crazies out today... Elsa did some chasing, only one feather pull.. but i noticed she was possessive of me if the others got too close.. but Betty and Esmeralda are my cat chickens, they like to walk around my feet.

Elsa ended up jumping into my lap and falling asleep 🥺 shes so miserable in chicken prison, and she doesn't want to be around the other chickens. I'm thinking about giving her a bath and bringing her back inside the house to live. Maybe. It's kind of a pain.. but we will see. But reintegrating her w the new chickens isn't going to happen.
She's like a one chicken kinda family. Good pet but hard for flock.

I was checking on my chickens this arvo and found Chickaletta had only 5 chicks out of 6 with her! I went looking for the lost chick and it was somehow on the other side of the fence, dead, with stomach bits hanging out!! :hitpoor thing! Don't know what happened! Something must have grabbed it and taken it over the fence as the fence holes are only tiny. .. Maybe a neighbor's cat? Or something hunting during the day since winter is coming? A bird? What would leave it like play with it and not eat it? 😟
Awe I'm so sorry! That's awful.

Well Elsa is enjoying her first morning free in the yard.. she's been dust bathing for about an hour! She isn't wandering like i thought she would, she's sticking close to the run with the others. I put her food and water out, but there are so many bugs, she's excitedly picking away!

Id love to have Barney out w her for protection, but she drops her wings low and her hackles go up and she does a karate attack whenever she sees him.

But i was thinking.. if she is splash, which technically is diluted black, if they were to mate, would i still have pretty paint chicks? 🤔 I'm assuming id get 50% black, 50% paint.

She's such a pretty baby! Cochin right?

An update on my two broody hens...
I just got back from vacation and saw that they were both sharing 9 eggs. I went ahead and candled the eggs because it was day eight and I couldn't bear not waiting! EACH EGG IS DEVELOPING! I am so excited and can't wait to see little chicks!
Congratulations!!! Will they be silkies?
