They are becoming more popular as time goes by. Try looking in a local FB group about chickens buy/sell/trade. I have sold and bought chickens from 'notices' in my local group.
Someone has also suggested Craigslist though I haven't looked there.
Just to prove how popular some groups are in FB, Last week I sold 15 birds, some bantams and some silkies.. Monday I posted an add for 2 Silkie cross cockerels and was contacted within hours, they are GONE today!

He's just turned 12 weeks old. Yes, I've gotten a few that weren't in such great shape at the same age, but proper nutrition and housing makes a lot of difference. Brings out the best they can be. Good luck with your baby.
Here are a couple pics of his dad and older sisters. (BTW: he's the ONLY blue male I've gotten, all the rest were splashes). His older sisters are now in with another splash roo.View attachment 3377427View attachment 3377431View attachment 3377426
They are gorgeous. I'm not sure what color he will be when he gets bigger.

Question about molting/growing feathers!

My 4 silkies are now 22 weeks old and started getting their final adult feathers around 13 weeks. They all still have crest feathers with the sheath present (some more than others). Wondering if this is normal as these are the first silkies I’ve had since chicks…and my poor girl has the most raggedy looking puff I’ve ever seen lol.

I will carefully use my nails to crush and gently flake off the sheath if its dry and crumbly. Sometimes I can only do a bit. Some birds have a problem getting their head feathers cleaned.

What do you guys think?- boy or girl or too early still?
About 9weeks old
