Rushed outside then they all started falling over. 20 minutes later most of them were back in their pen where it's cooler.

you are lucky to have green grass. mine stay in their coop almost all day long.

btw, I have 12-14 silkie chicks, black, blue, partridge and 1 that looks dark brown/sort of partridge. hope they live as my roo got sick and died. not sure if he was healthy before they hatched. I now have 1 red roo. I might keep all/most of chicks.

Sadly I lost all but four silkies to Beryl. Almost all my grow outs as well. All my adult birds survived tho. I will try hatching a few in October on Halloween or come this spring. Till then it's working on more wind resistant covers for the coop part of my pens.

This boy is such a sweet gentleman. I'll collect eggs from this pen next.

Yes, I was bad and had my brace off. I really needed my index finger to leg band the chicks and tried to get a picture that doesn't show the pinky stitches.

This chick is the odd one out on coloring. Looks rather like that rather red hen I have. That's likely the mother since egg is from that pen.

All other chicks are typical partridge. There are a couple lighter ones who would be blue partridge. Happy to see those.

15 chicks in this hatch. 7 from the pen with the blue partridge hens, and 8 from the pen with the older hens. No blue eggs because the few on there that lay blue were broody.

All look to have nice toes this hatch. I'll double check the left feet later, in a week at most when I reband. Really notice the right foot when putting the little zip ties on.

The black hens are all paying their way this year. They don't mind being moved and readily take chicks. So I'll have to breed more of them for that.

I wish I had silkies like yours Hinotori 😍

I've got a nice rooster I've had for a while now but I keep getting mostly single comb offspring so I'm guessing it's from him! 😞 I'll have to try and find another boy to replace him. I might buy some eggs to hatch a new boy into the flock if I can find some patridge buff ones.
