those are british araucanas. they are crested and have tails.

Ahh that helps. They aren't the same breed as what we have here. I know there is tons of confusion because of breed names and how they developed in US and elsewhere. US araucana did actually have birds like that before the split in the 70s that resulted in the ameraucana

not really. I had all 3 breeds and they are different. what you call US araucana is rumpless araucana. they have yellow skin. ameraucana looks like araucana but has white skin and tail. british araucana is crested, has ear muffs and beard but I don't remember skin colour. all great birds.

Yup, in America the breed split in to two because of politics in the club. The British version has watermaul(sp) in their make up now. But because of the split in America the two breeds are not as similar as they once where. Bothe came from what is now considered EE stock from South America.

My blue creams I hatch for Easter.

Just the beaks give away the danger if you reach for a chick. They beat me up yesterday for grabbing chicks with a bit of pasty butt. I'm only one armed right now so they got me pretty good.

Man, all of my mommas let me get chicks and eggs, except one who's name is now zilla. She's not a Silike tho but a cochin. My others are Phoenixs and Phoenix x Sebright. The Phoenix x sebright got every one to gang up on Midge the kitty who usually try to sleep with the large fowl flock... on the roost with them.

Zilla is also not a good mom and the Phoenix and Phoenix x Sebright mix have taken over. After three days she decided the light chicks she had needed to die by her beak! So I have both of them in the house brooding in the kitchen with of all things cat baby sitters. Don't ask me the like to get out of the box and chase the cats that think they are the monsters or snuggle up to the ones that don't care.

Zill is not mom material, but she likes hatching eggs.

Their mother raised the last chicks. She demanded treats all the time. She didn't peck, though. Even with the pecking I'll use them again. They don't mind being moved when broody and takes chicks easy.

I grabbed a chick to use as bait for the hens earlier. Hold it until they rush over to peck me into releasing. Let go of chick and grab a mama. They don't peck when I'm holding them.

Hi all! I was wondering if someone could help me with these silkies colors. A lady was selling her flock so I got them all, and yes I realize they’re pet quality :)

The first hen is a gray color, the second hen is much lighter than the black hen I have, and the third hen is black with red / brown feathers on her neck. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!

Looks like some mixing going on so can't really name them all.

There is the black and buff that are pretty obvious.
