In my experience, Sultans get sick easily and are not fond of free-ranging. They tend to stay inside the coop where it's warmer in cold or rainy weather. My Silkies are pretty temp-hardy and know what they can handle.

That surprises me, to my understanding, it's a misconception that silkies are Winter Hardy... due do their feathering, because it actually makes them less protected??My silkie girls really stood up to NYC winter very well. Their fluff makes them stay warm. I am thinking my Sultans might not be as eeasy to care for because they are smaller and hard feathered. I could be wrong...cause my Polish Bantam took winter on well also.
