Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! You might want to try posting in your state thread for the best chance of reaching people near you who might have birds you are interested in. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread You can also try some of the breed threads to find a breeder, ie https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/297632/silkie-thread
When you have 20 posts you could also put up a Want ad in the BYC Buy-Sell-Trade forum. X2 Silkies are almost impossible to sex young unless you do DNA testing via feathers/blood/egg shell, there are labs who will do that ie http://www.accu-metrics.com/avian.php that lab will DNA test one bird for $22, less than that if you are doing a number of them.

Welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our community! Silkies a beautiful breed and a fun bird to keep. Great addition to any flock! Kelsie has really set you up with the links to get you started. I sure hope you can find the right birds for your flock.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!

If you want to be sure of sex you'll have to get birds 4-5 mos old. that's when a 'breeder' is usually able to sex them. If they are hatchery chicks or someone who just 'incidentally' has silkies - your guess would be as good as theirs.
