Silkies are difficult to sex. Clear pictures on their combs and good, clear side profile pictures could help.Hello, I'm new to the backyard chickens. Wondering if anyone can sex these two chicks.
Thanks
Agree and their age would help 2.Silkies are difficult to sex. Clear pictures on their combs and good, clear side profile pictures could help.
She means the color pattern of the wings on the dark bird, how there are alternating bars of gold and black. That bird does look a bit different from most Silkies I've seen and could be a cross. As for sexing, it's difficult to tell, which is why we want better pictures. But if I were to guess, I'd lean toward males for both. But I'm not even close to certain. No not hatchery, they came from a farm not to far from me. What is barring on the wing? I'm new to chickens, was told they were silkies. Also just curious if anyone could take a experienced guess on the sex. I'm thinking the dark one is a roo. The hens give him a hard time and he will try peck you when we pick it up.. thanks
