Hello I have two young silkie hens that just started laying about a month ago. They live indoors in their own bedroom, one window, well circulated.about two days ago I noticed that one hen wheezed when my husband was holding her. I thought maybe he was holding her too tight, but was not. Thought maybe a one off. This morning when holding her I heard it again, just once. She doesn't appear to have any upper respiratory issues, no discharge, watery eyes bowels appear normal. Other chicken is fine. The only two things that I could think of is when they first started laying I switched their food to a layers feed and it was a different brand so they seems to de tease their intake slightly. They both also seemed to be smaller, not emaciated, but that again could just be me over analyzing. The only other thing I could think that could be a reason is she's VERY LOUD at random times( I think when she does her egg laying song) so could that make her throat sore? I read something about throat worms, but they're indoors.. I just want to get ahead of anything before something gets worse- if it does. Any recommendations on what I should do? These are my first chickens so I'm new to the process of it all. Thank you 😊

How is she doing today?

She's currently at this very moment screaming at the top of her lungs which she does every other day when she's about to lay an egg. 😅
