I'm in Canada and the Silver Appleyard is a rare breed. I fell in love with them when I boarded a trio for a friend. Well I had to have my own so after to failed attempts at hatching purchased eggs. I went ahead and bought adults. Just brought them home this weekend past. They're in heavy molt, so a bit rough looking, but I still like them regardless.

Drake

Lighter Duck

Darker Duck

I also picked up this super cute flock of mini Appleyard look alikes. They look bang on like an incorrectly coloured Silver Appleyard duckling I am growing up (hatched out a very light mallard colour). The genetic background of these guys is unknown, but boy are they cute and small! Not as small as a call duck, but pretty small.

I have looked into the Silver Appleyard breed. I have been thinking of getting a couple females. Please let me know what you think of them. I have Pekins and Campbells and I love my Pekins personality. They are so darn comical. Congrats on your new babies!!

I got three pair of Silver Appleyards from Holderreads this year and just love them! Thinking of ordering Minis for next spring. Can anyone tell me if the Mini Silver Appleyards are quiet like the full size Appleyards or if they're loud and noisy like Call ducks?

I have a mini silver appleyard. Not sure if its a duck or drake. He/she is 6 months old now. Has orange feet and greenish beal. (any ideas) Such a lovely quite calm character, not skitish at all. Just really small and cute even though she/he has wry tail xx love my custard pearl x

Custard pearl duck or drake?

My minis are pretty loud.

I had a pair of Mini Silver Appleyard Ducks and I think my female flew off. She's been gone for 2-weeks now. The male follows me around when I go out to feed him and the chickens. I have been searching high and low for a mate for him and can't find one anywhere. I'm on the waiting list to get some hatchlings from the breeder, but they won't have any until April. Is there anyone in or near Oregon that might have one for sale? Even an older, non-laying gal just so he won't be alone until I get the hatchlings grown?
Note to self: clip wings.
