Keep in mind that you have to find a breeder that is able to give health certificates. Not all will.

NOPE ALL I NEED IS THE RIGHT CONTACT THAT WANTS TO COME DOWN TO FLORIDA FOR SPRING BREAK AND HAS EXTRA ROOM IN THE SUITCASE

Are there any other colours of coturnix we have here that you don't have there? I only live an hour away from the US border.

To export eggs or live birds to the US the whole flock(all birdies on the premises) has to have been tested for New castle, fowl plague and avian influenza within 30 days of export. Also the whole flock needs to be tested for pullorum with 90 days of export.
All has to be done by a CFIA Vet. Mine charges about $50 per test per bird, I couldn't afford to test my whole flock......

As for just taking them for a ride without papers......... I would think its easier to go from the US to Canada then the other way around. With the US crossing guards I have met so far I would not want anything in the car that doesn't have proper papers.

Yup! That's why I say "I can't finance any import deal". Permits many, money more!

Also introducing a black plague to both wild birds and our domesticated poultry industry would probably land me on some kind of 60 minuets piece. Something I wish to avoid, unless I discover a cure for cancer or something better. That would be nice.

Varies by disease, pullorum is a "fluff" test, Newcastle is a serum test(blood?), and Fowl plague and ai are both blood tests as well if I remember correctly(asked our CFIA vet last year, I just know she said I had to test every single bird I own from quail to peacock with that that topic was done for me).

The costs will vary greatly by Vet I think, depending on where you are etc.
