silver crested polish- rooster or hen?

Lol I'd love to have him! We probably live way too far away though :-(
How many birds do you have to order from that hatchery? All the ones I can find you have to order fifteen and I don't need that many :-/

Meyer hatchery and My Pet Chicken carry them and I believe you can order as few as three chicks at a time from them :)

Ooooooooh!!!!! I'm looking into that today! I don't usually order from hatcheries but there's just no breeders in the area. I'm gonna check that out :-D

I hope it works out!
Okay, I checked out both hatcheries. Inb each I put in four silver laced polish, and three mottled cochins. Seven birds. The shipping was FIFTY DOLLARS!?!?!?!?!?
Does any one know of a hatchery that doesn't charge that much for shipping? I understand that they're shipping a living thing and it should cost something, but I think fifty bucks is really pushing it...

I have never ordered from either hatchery but I think if you order under 25 chicks they'll still put them in the 25 chick box size so the shipping will probably cost the same if it isn't by weight. When I have ordered 20+ chicks from breeders they charge 45 bucks for shipping plus 5-10 dollars more for heat pads and gro girl etc... so I think that it isn't that bad of a price if that's how they ship them :)

Have you ever heard what Ideal Hatchery charges for their shipping? Found what I'm looking for there but it's the only place that doesn't say what their shipping price is. At least not that I can understand.

I've never ordered from them but after messing around on their website, it looks like if you order under 25 chicks they'll charge you a $7 up charge because it's considered a small order. The shipping costs a dollar twenty for me and they also charged me two dollars for a quarter box fee??? I'm not sure if this is a problem, but they also don't sex Silver Laced Polish there :)

So I guess it's cheap?
I don't mind the sexing and honestly don't like it when they vent sex chicks. They say it can cause problems later on. Not sure if it's true but why take a chance.
So sounds like the shipping is a dollar and twenty cents with a small fee for small orders?

I just ordered from Ideal and that's what they charged me. Just to let you know they use baby roosters as packing peanuts. If you don't want the Roos just tell them when you order and they charge $1.00 to put extra straw in the box.

I'll take the packing peanut Roos! Thanks so much for your info. Do they base the roo breed off of what you order or just random Roos?
