Silver Laced Wyandotte chicks - help with sexing chick

I'm just guessing, it's a little early yet. Tail feather don't come in longer until a few months old. I look for comb and wattle color, and size, attitude, and leg thickness. The color patterns won't develop until after the second or third baby molt.

All my chicks from MPC have always been correctly sexed. We will see this year if they are still good at it.

Ok, I was just curious because they are so different from each other.. but I am very happy to hear MPC has a good track record! I really want the breeds I ordered and will be super sad if I end up getting a cockerel instead of a pullet. The only ones I have ordered more than one of are the Easter Eggers.. which I ordered 3 of, for variety of egg color. :D

Though I may add to my order, as some of the breeds that were sold out when I ordered have become available for my ship date. :weee

That's how I get in trouble too. I shouldn't keep looking after I ordered. I have three EE coming too. I figured I give them another try.

LOL But this is my first year!!! :p

Another try? Have you had them before? What happened?

I'm sad. My Silkie bunch hates me. :( I was in there a little while ago to change their waterer and tried giving them mealworms. No interest. They all crowded around my hand and pecked at my fingernails, but none of them took any of the mealworms. Bleh.

I've had an EE here and there, but they never laid very well for me. Now I have more chickens and get too many eggs, so poor laying doesn't bother me.

At least they come up to you, maybe try a different treat, canned corn is a good one.

Aw, I hope mine lay well. My bf will be upset with me if some of the breeds I've chosen don't lay very well. That's what it's all about for him. I want lots of eggs, but I also want a variety of breeds. :D

Yeah, Idk what the problem is. I might try giving them something different.. but yes, I suppose just getting them to realize my hand isn't something scary is a good thing.

Do you really need pressure like that? Get a new boyfriend instead

LOL I'm sure it will be fine. We have 5 Isa Browns and I've ordered some other excellent layers.. I think. I need to review my order. I didn't order anything wasn't at least a 'good' layer.. and I think I have a couple 'better, excellent and best' in there too. We are going to have a large flock, so I figure we will have plenty of eggs. At least I hope so. My only worry is when they stop producing so well. :/ He'd have no problem lining them up for dinner.

Hahaha, I have seriously considered that at times too!!! ;)
