Thank you - big relief! I have never had trouble sexing a chicken before, but the more I looked at those feathers, the more deceiving they looked.

I raise Rose Comb Rhode Island Whites, Rose Comb Rhode Island Reds and Rose Comb Dark Brown Leghorns. Sometimes The Rose Combs can be a little more difficult to sex. I have some chicks that I'm pretty sure are males. They are going on 6 weeks old.

Wow, I didn’t know some of those breeds were a available with a rose comb! I have a mixed breed chicken that has a rose comb, but she didn’t have the laced feathers to further confuse me. I don’t think my SLW is going to nicely marked when she is an adult unfortunately. Didn’t know at the time that could even be an issue, but we aren’t breeding her so not a problem. Thanks for sharing!
