The bad news...

On sunday morning I got up, went outside, did my normal chick-chores, then came back inside.

Something didn't seem right: our house seemed too cold. sure 'nuf - thermostat said 53 degrees!! YIKES! Our natural gas boiler has been... shall we say... temperamental at BEST. With DBF not pulling in a salary right now, I was imagining all kinds of "live w/o heat" scenarios. Yuck. We borrowed a space heater from my parents and were able to get the main part of our little house to around 58.

So, we spent Sunday sans heat. On Sunday evening I decided to start cooking in order to at least be productive and warm up the kitchen. I made:
Quiche Lorraine from scratch
Polenta lasagna from scratch, including the meat sauce
Hot Pocket-inspired thingies with leftover meat sauce (now in your nearby frozen section!)
Baked potato soup, from baked potatoes
Banana bran muffins

The good news...

It turns out that the boiler stopped working because a valve had turned off the gas supply to it. DBF was able to fix it on Monday for no cost.

We've got all our meals for the week already cooked!

I'm thinking dear or darling boyfriend.

DBF means "dear boyfriend" on days like this.

On days when he's irritating me the "D" can stand for other things. I'll leave it up to your imagination!

Wow can I come to your house and eat? I'm still unsure as to what to cook for dinner tonight, I forgot to take something out of the freezer and I'm at work

. You were very productive!

Mmmm... I'm at work having a nice, warm bowl of baked potato soup. It's really gusty today, and homemade soup at work hits the spot! Did I mention that it contains chicken stock and corn that I canned last fall?

Yummmmmmm
