Wow! That's a long time to play. How often do you have to play to keep them alive?
It's not like a Tamagochi...or whatever they called it. Your people have basic needs that have to be met, like hunger, comfort, socializing, bladder, etc. They have a certain amount of free will, but you usually have to make sure they take care of themselves and their surroundings. If your Sim is making enough money at work, they can hire a maid to do the housework for them. It gets pretty complicated to explain, but it's not that hard to play. They don't age or anything while you're not playing them, so when you save your game, it will just pick back up where you left off.
How do you kill off Sims? What happens when they die?
It's really harder for them to die than you'd think. Some ways that they can die:
Drowning
Fire
Starvation
Scared to death (usually by ghosts)
Death by flies (for the Sim that won't clean up)
Illness (either from another Sim or a pet)
Electrocution (either struck by lightening in Seasons, or because they don't have enough Mechanical skills to repair broken equipment)
Eaten alive by the Cow Plant (hilarious!!)
Running with Scissors (adults only)
It actually takes some effort to get most of these things to happen, or to put them in the situation where it can happen. The only one that I know is pretty much instantaneous is the Cow Plant. It sets out a piece of birthday cake with a candle as bait, then swallows the unsuspecting Sim whole.
If they die unexpectedly from most of the ways listed, they'll come back as ghosts in the manner they died, i.e. dripping wet, etc.
i allways end up making my people dead but most fo them got a secend chance of life from the grim reaper.
I have a lot of Knowledge Sims that want to be saved from death, but I've yet to get any in that position where they can be saved. I always end up saving ones that I don't want to die.
BTW, has anyone ever noticed the Grim Reaper has a purple cell phone? LOL
