Luikse Vechter aka Liege Fighter Thread

Following up on the show, it was a fun weekend and I got to introduce many people to our amazing breed! I sold several extra stags and a few hatching eggs, gathered some interest in eggs and chicks come spring, and had a great conversation with a long time breeder of Malays who was very interested in learning about the liege.

As for my two show entries, the stag was disqualified because I hadn't updated his coloring from BB red to Silver Blue on the coop card as I changed my mind on who to bring, and their brand new high tech judging software couldn't handle a change last minute (so much for that). So by default my pullet got BB because she was the only other liege in the show

I know we're few and far between, but it would be great if more liege keeping folks in the New England area were to enter birds in the future!

Awww! They look lovely! I am from Vermont. I would love to have a few Liege hens someday. I will probably always have non-gamefowl as well though, and it seems like they don’t always get along…

All hens are different and will form their own personality, but I'll just say that my liege live with a variety of other breeds including orpingtons, RIR, australorp, phoenix mixes, and even an OEGB bantam with no trouble!
