Love this integration pen! How perfect is that for broodies or chicks?

Give Stephen a big ol' hug for me on that one! I'm so glad all the chicks are doing great and so pleased to "see" you here, my bestie!

Love you dearly! Was praying for you the other day and wondering where in the world you were in your life and doings.

Bee, can you remind me, what did you do for "lockdown"? Did you actually put the eggs on lockdown?

Not sure how it applies to an open cardboard box but all I did was just stop turning the eggs, placed the air cells upward so the pipping would be in the right place, and just monitored temps. Seems like I had to use a spacer between the pad and the eggs during that time to keep the eggs from overheating...I just used a small piece of fencing that was arched a little.

Alrighty, then, I think that's what I'll aim for. I suppose I could put the hatching eggs further away from the heat lamp to keep them from getting too hot.

It isn't time for lockdown yet, I don't think, but there are a few in there that are getting close.

Off topic here, hope y'all don't mind weighing in on this: Hubby and I are in disagreement as to whether or not it is okay to fill the birds waterers from the irrigation line water--I say no, it comes from the Yakima River--I always use our city water--he thinks I'm being silly.

It would probably be fine.. heck, my chickens drink from puddles (preferably the ones that have chicken poop in them

). But whatever feels ok to you is the right thing to do

City water has funky stuff in it too, only different funky stuff (like lime, chlorine, fluoride etc.)

Bee have I shown you my last batch to hatch and their heating pad momma?

No! I would love to see them!

I'd rather give my livestock river water than city water any day! It's free flowing and never stagnate and has no concentrated chlorine or flouride, I imagine, though not many bodies or rivers of water are totally fresh and pure any longer.
