Hello all,
I just had some chicks hatch during my vacation to Custer. Hen did a much better job than what I hatched in an incubator. We came back to 5 out of 8 or 9 eggs. Unfortunately, one passed away because it got stuck under brooder box mat.
Here's dad, Marnie is an ornery 2 year old Starlight green egger so I'm hoping for pullets. I'm really interested in egg color genetics:
Here's the broody Bielefelder mom, Betty. At least one of these chicks is hers, I believe it's one of the chipmunky ones and potentially the whitish one (if not, then it's my mystery chick):
And finally, the rest of the babies. 1 wyandotte (calico face), 1 polish mix (black), and one hatchery choice 5 toed mix. 5 toes is special because mom, maybe orpington silkie mix, just died during our last heat spell, I'm hoping this one is female:
Thanks for viewing
