I ordered fertile eggs on eBay to try out incubating eggs and only 1 egg hatched. It is eating and drinking already but it's the only chicken I have now. Will it thrive being an only chicken? During the day I carry it around in my bra lol it seems content so far. I'm just wondering if I should find another day old chick to have a buddy?

She will definitely be happier with one buddy or several. It’s possible to raise a single chicken, but she will want to be with you 24/7 for 2 months or so  for my own sanity I would get her some friends, but some people love having imprinted chickens.

I would get a few more chicks (or just 1 more if you can't get more than that)
Otherwise it would be unfair on the lonely chick, chickens are flock animals after all. And unless you can give her company 24/7 (which you probably can't) I'd get her a friend.
Put a small stuffed toy and/or a mirror in the brooder until you can get another chick

I would definitely get a few ( or just one ) buddies for your little friend. She will be happier in life with someone to be with her, even if it’s just one. Do you have a name for it yet?
