So I ordered some eggs one night when I was sleepy. Bad idea, lol.

Anyway the Malay chickens looked cool. The guy only had a single hen, so not too many eggs. He sold me 4 eggs.

It was pretty cold outside but I figured the eggs could make it here ok. They came unbroken.

3 started, 2 made it to lockdown and only one hatched. She ( praying it's a she) is named Charlie and hatched January 21st.

Ive got her eating chick starter pretty well. However she will only drink water from my hand.

She sleeps in incubator at night, but during day she's in this tank with two heating pads and her television ( cell phone)

So now for the crazy part. She tries to peck my eyes when I have her out. She bites my lips hard.

She chirps very loudly and doesn't stop unless she's eating or drinking.

Ive tried making nest for her to snuggle in. Even have let her hide in my hand under a blanket.

But she still does this. Anyone have ideas to help her not be bored?

I've taken her into bathroom ( I have large puppy) I let her run around, but she just climbs up my legs.

Of course as I type this she's being totally normal! Luckily I got a video of her being silly. Hoping it will post here.

I have the same exact situation. 1 of 4 hatched only mine is a male. I see the stuffed animal thats good. You could also put a mirror in there. We have a chicken friendly puppy so he has been in our living room since he hatched, in a clear tote. At night i put him in a dark room all by himself because chickens appreciate the dark and quiet to sleep. My solo chick peeped alot as well especially if i left the room. I think the peeping is just normal. Mine peeped relentlessly and once that stopped he started crowing :he
Unless it's a frantic peep dont worry too much. I've also heard u can put a feather duster (real feathers) in there. Like a fake momma to go sit under. Best of luck with your little one :love
The eye and lip pecking are probably because it sees your teeth (shiny) and your eyes are shiny. I agree it is most painful.

You need to get him/her a friend or two. Preferably the same age or close. Get a chick waterer, put some water in it, and dip her beak in it until she swallows. She should catch on. Oh, another thing, don't get your hopes set on a girl. There is a very good chance it's a boy.
I would fix up your tub with pine shavings. I would also put in a chick feeder. Much less messy. But, she will chirp and be u happy unless you get her a friend. You can make something for her to climb on, I did, and my chicks loved it! I personally would keep her in the same place, day and night.

If you have any independent feed stores (not a big chain outfit like TSC), ask the owner/manager if they would be willing to make a small order for you. It's coming into early spring now, and most will be willing to make a small early order of 25 chicks for their regular customers, knowing they will sell out the day they come in.

I did this three years ago when I was craving some EE chicks. I proposed the owner order me just a couple chicks, and he readily agreed because he knew his other customers would be delighted to have some early chicks and would buy the rest.

Much of the time, I've been able to convince these small feed store owners to do this for me, and it's worked out splendidly. I've never been able to get any of the big chain stores to even hear me out. Butt-heads.
