I have a few that will do that to keep the Nest Box Hall Monitor from picking on them.

Interesting. Perhaps it gives her a better sense of privacy? I used to have curtains but that doesn’t work out in our cramped coop, so they must fend for themselves on that issue.

Had a broody who sat like that for the first week.

Sometimes I open the nestbox door and see feathery backsides. Sometimes I open the nestbox door and an annoyed hen gives me a dirty look.

I figure that they know what they're doing.
