I have a Bantam that has been sitting for three days but I don't have a rooster. Do hens get the natural instinct without having fertilized eggs? What should I do about it? Let her sit?

Even if you don't have a rooster and if you have a breed that tends to go broody they will want to sit as that is mother nature. As for what to do. If you want baby chicks I'd say find some fertilized eggs and put them under her. Being a bantam though she's not going to be able to sit on a lot of eggs. If you don't want babies then what I would do is if you can boot her off the nest do that. Some people use cages w/ wire bottoms to break broodies. As they want to keep their tummies warm. But w/ a wire cage that is difficult to do. It might take a couple days to break her though.
