Six out of Six? Could I be that lucky? Is my White Leghorn a Girl?

Everything about that bird says pullet, she is getting quite close to laying, that comb will lay over soon i am quite certain of it.

Yes she is a girl

That's a pullet. White Leghorn cockerels are just like miniature versions of big, bad roosters almost from the moment they hatch. Within the first week, the cockerels are typically very obvious. This pullet is just now at the age where the comb starts to really develop. They look rather "gamebirdy" for a long time as youngsters, finally starting to get some comb size and fill out a bit right before laying.

My two White Leghorn pullets started laying at 16 weeks, so I hope you're ready for some eggs.

This thread has been a HUGE relief! I have 2 15 week old leghorns that look exactly like Foggy who have been making a weird, pretty quiet, muffled crow-ish sound? I was so afraid they were boys and it was an immature real crow. This is my first time with chickens, so any sound other than the standard "cluck cluck" is new to me. Could it be an egg song?

Start a thread with pics of your birds then perhaps we can tell you what they are, they still sound a little young to be making the egg song and then they only do it just before they lay or shortly after the egg is passed and then it's not muffled it's rather loud! roos do start off crowing with muffled crows

not saying they are but without pics it's difficult to help.

When you say the comb "lays over" does that mean that it kind of flops to one side? I looked at her again this afternoon, and it looks like the front part of the comb is flopping to one side. Today DH made 2 wooden eggs for them. Before I put them in the nest boxes, I set the 'eggs' down to take a picture of them and just had to take this picture of the girls coming over to check them out:)
