Six weeks old, what do we have here?

Can you get a face-on pic of the EE?

ETA and also of its legs?
Sure, here

He's so adorable. :) I adore my bantam Cochin roosters. They have such quirky little attitudes.

He *is* adorable. He's a little sweetie. And I have to find a new home for him, we're not allowed to keep roosters here. [1]

I wish you were closer, I'd offer him to you. I'm willing to drive an hour or two to get him a good home, but Wisconsin is a bit far.

[1] I wish we *were*, I'd rather have one as a flock protector, and compared to the trains (Saginaw has 3 major train lines going alongside us, and a big grain elevator by the trains), and the houses to every side with loud barking dogs at all hours, *I* think a rooster wouldn't be a big deal. But - I don't make the laws. Sigh. Maybe if chicken keeping goes well enough in Saginaw and backyard chicken keeping keeps getting more popular, in some years we might be able to talk to city council and get them to change. But it's not going to happen right at the beginning. Or maybe we'll move...

What things do you see on Steggie, what makes the difference in identifying a production red (Like, Rhode Island Red? something else?) vs a sex link?
A production red (or a RIR even) has black feathering on the tail and flight feathers of the wing. In a sex link, those colors will be white, and about half or more of the wing feathers will be white. Usually the tail will be white as well.

YEP.

DD was out at dawn to give them some free range time before it got too hot for us northern-style humans to take it. Nocturnal me was woken early by a phone call, then found this message.

GUESS WHAT I HEARD AS SOON AS I WALKED OUT THE BACKDOOR

PREPUBESCENT CROWNING

TERRY IS THE CULPRIT

Sounds like that clears up any lingering doubt. Although from looking at him, the remaining doubt I had was how soon.
