Size of Egg Changing?

I was wondering if a chicken who has been laying a large sized egg would one day all of a sudden lay a small one? Considerably smaller? The reason is that because of the storm last night here we didn't get out to the coop for our daily egg, and this late morning we had two different size eggs. Is it more probable that my other bird born in early August started laying, or my silkie born in August started laying? I was under the impression that because of the daylight issue, the August birds would not begin producing eggs until early spring?
I could just wait until tommorow and see if I have two eggs again, but BYC is more entertaining than that>

Sounds like you've got a new layer, unless the egg is a"fart egg" (really small).

Nope, not really small, just small. Looks like a first egg.
I guess I'll have to wait and see. I know one girl is not producing two eggs in this winter light!
