Skin issues :( any advice?

BINGO! Great post.

I once had eczema and acne very bad. I made MAJOR dietary changes for other health reasons. No added Sugar, No Gluten, No processed foods, No grains, no Soda, No Dairy, no potatoes.

My acne cleared up pretty quick and the eczema took a little longer but 1 1/2 years later there is not a sign of it. Overall my acne is 95% gone.

Today I eat some carbs, mostly fresh fruit and 1 or 2 servings grains/starch a day

Cutting back the carbs and increasing intake of good fats really helped me.

You have to stop with the hot water. I know you are frustrated, believe me I know, but you are just going to make it worse. You also have to quit scrubbing, that actually aggravates it.

If I stop, I have severe open wound type problems, will not even leave the house. PC Doc wanted to try this for a month back a few months ago when she saw me sneak into her office with massive open sores on my jaw bones, so far it does help keep things to a minimum.

Can't use benzoil peroxide or any soap other than the bar mentioned and can't use it everyday or else I start bleeding. Like I said, sensitive skin

No processed foods here, have food allergies and make most everything from scratch, whole unadulterated foods. I do better on higher protein also so there's not a whole heck of a lot of carbs.
Though the dairy I think I may look into, I don't eat a lot of cheese or milk but I have 2 eggs a day (are they still considered dairy?)

The more I read and the more I research ...... it's looking like a hormone issue which I really don't want it to be. It stopped 15 years ago when they started me on estrogen and started back when they took me off. My biological father has the same thing too, so does my brother. Both of them are heavily scarred from it, so far I've not had that hand dealt to me.....

A good multi-vitamin and cod liver oil has helped mine

Acne / Skin Eruptions: Low Vit A, Vit B2, Vit B6, Vit C, Vit E, manganese, chromium, magnesium,
zinc, thymus. High/low Vit B5, iron. High lecithin, choline, inositol, biotin, Vit B1, Vit B15, bromine, tin,
iodine, nickel, zinc (high testosterone). Black / cayenne pepper, cloves, willow bark, oregano, puncture
vine, royal jelly. -- Also higher intake of alcohol, fats & oils (incl. omega / fish oils), acidophilus, CoQ10,
melatonin, colostrum, bromelain, glutamic acid, pancreatin, stevia, licorice, all Simple Sugars / Carbs.
(Not all acne-prone individuals are equally sensitive to all of the above, so not everyone will experience
acne or skin eruptions from every item). [opt: cat's claw, skullcap, thymus gland extract].

Too much grains, bread, pasta are other carbs you should try to reduce

Vegetable oil, margarine are the wrong kinds of fat and mess up your body.

Stick with real butter, olive oil, coconut oil, avacodes. Stick with cold pressed oils. Omega 3 supplements (fish oil) can help with many things

Good luck

Have you tried Vitamin E? You can puncture a capsule and rub it onto your face as well as taking the capsules by mouth. Also, have you tried the goats milk soaps that some of our BYCer's make?

I have tried the Vit E, just made me oilier, no change one way or another. Haven't tried goats milk soap recently, used it and plain old lye soap in my teens and it seemed to make something of a difference. Have to give it a try again, totally slipped my mind, Thanks!

I have nowhere near this severe a problem, but have painful breakouts around my mouth and jaw. Dermatologist prescribed a "metronidazole 0.75%" cream. For Rosacea and certain skin infections. Said it might be hormone related. It is reducing the blistery pimples when I remember to use it regularly. Burns a bit.
Hormones, food allergies, possible gluten culprit, off-kilter blood/nutrient tests...
Funny, I recently switched to lye soap too for other reasons. Usually I don't use any soap on my face, noxema for the once-in-a-blue moon dress-up and makeup.
