I just came across your thread. I had the same thing happen to my buff orp rooster last fall. He was attacked by a dog. He didn't make it but I am so glad Holly is doing okay. I love this site because people know so much and are so much help to each other.

hi all, Holly s doing just great...she's back out on the terras today......(alone!) soaking up some rays

will update with some more pics, but she looks just the same as the pics on page 12 (before the rescalping!)

the skull is still showing though, no sign of that healing up......will that be a problem in the future if that hole does close up fully??

That's great news Spish!
When my hen was healing, I kept waiting for it to granulate in. I kept reading that you would see it slowly healing from the edges. But with my hen, the skin just started looking dryer and tougher all over, and then it started filling in with feathers.
That sunshine is really good for her! Don't know the answer about the skull. Time will tell. Alot of this is first-timing it for us!

I know mine wasn't hurt as bad as yours or in such a bad place, but here's a pic of her after several days. She healed perfectly.
