Skunk disposal

If I do end up needing to bury I will use the post hole method. Great idea!

I actually do live out in the country. I'm on a 5 acre lot but I'm in a sort of mini neighborhood with most of the other lots being 2.5 acres. I'd guess there is about 100 houses all together. Sort of the perfect combination of rural living but not being out in the middle of nowhere by yourself. We have mostly open fields around our area. I think it's a skunk haven because I can smell them as soon as I turn onto the dirt road that leads into the housing area.

Depends what time a year i catch the skunk. There open season where i live so i can legally trap and kill them anytime. (Well as long as its legal shooting hours that is.) If its in winter they can bring in a few dollars by selling the pelts (maybe 8-10 dollars per pelt) if you have a trapping license and want to go that route. If i had to deal with skunks i would bury them in the summer months and skin them in the winter months. I just hate wasting an animals life. Even if it is to protect my live stock.

Yeah, I don't like killing them but they have to go. They not only ate my quail but are a danger to my dog. She has an autoimmune problem and can't be vaccinated, including for rabies. Since they are known carriers I just can't chance it. And I'm not one to just run them off so they become a problem for someone else. I feel bad for them but it is what it is.

I don't think I'll venture into selling pelts though. I was thinking it might be neat to have one stuffed but that's 100s of dollars so that's not happening.

For some definition of 'country', I guess. ;)

I'll keep peanuts in mind.

I guess people can have their own definition of country. I'm still going to say I live out in the country.
