He nodded, keeping his cool. "Come. We'll go into the Farther Pastures."

Stiffening as the contraction relentlessly ached, she breathed a trembling sigh when it stopped and followed after Flip.

Rain drizzled dully down on the grassy fields, sprinkling everything thoroughly. Thunder crackled faintly, miles away now.

Flip led Silver into the woods near the Far Pastures until he found a spot that had not yet been hit by the relentless rain. It was a small, cozy thicket; blanketed with layers of autumn leaves and protected by several trees -- dogwoods lower down, and higher up, sturdy beeches and tall, majestic oaks.

He leaned against her. The droplets glistened on his white coat and slid off in spinning scylinders of light.

She enjoyed the warth of moons body. She silently wondered what dappledsnow would do about them.

Moon listened to the rain fall. His eyes strayed to Goldenaura. She was beautiful. His thoughts wondered to Dappledsnow. (he is a great multi-tasker) What would he do? He obviously didn't want there to be any mates. He hoped it wouldn't end in a fight. He sighed.

"What's wrong?" he asked, seeing her sad expression.

Half-smiling gratefully at Flip, she lowered her head and stepped under the protection of the mighty trees' boughs, the dry, brown leaves on the ground crunching under her hooves. She took a moment to shake out her pelt, flaying tiny droplets of water about. Wincing as the next contraction racked her body, she restrained her fetlocks from buckling, and collapsing altogether in a heap.

"Notiing" she said sadly tears briming at her eyes.

Flip stood, stretching out his neck to nuzzle her. Now there was little he could do; he would simply wait and graze slightly outside the thicket.

Lucky! We haven't had rain in, well, I don't know when we last had rain.

It will rain all the way to the end of our driveway and then stop! How does that happen?
