Slaughtering chickens

When slaughtering chickens....should it be done in front of the other chickens or some place where they can't watch their friends being slaughtered?

I have done it this way and as far as I could tell the rest of the chickens had no idea what was going on. I take my harvest out of the flock the night befor right befor the nightly feeding so the craw and the gizzard are a little more clean. I have shipping cages that I keep them in all night and then I go to work about noon.I do ten at a time.

It makes it a little easier to catch the rest of them if they aren't watching the whole process- it keeps them calmer.

I have done it in front of the others. Keeps 'em walking a straight line!!

Seriously, they really don't get what is going on....
