Sled dog breeding

what about trimming

Depends on what you mean by trimming. I trim my Siberians feet. By trim I mean cut any hair covering the pads of their feet. I do this to keep sticker burrs from getting tangled in the hair and then possibly getting thorns imbedded in their pads. I use a mini shaver to shave the hair off their pads and touch up with scissors.

Some people trim their dogs ears to prevent ear infections. Some trim the whiskers for neatness. Since Siberians ears are erect, no need to worry too much about ear infection, just clean them as needed. Breeds with floppy ears should have their ears trimmed and plucked though. I also don't trim whiskers.

But if you mean trim the coat, no I would not trim a Siberians coat. As I said, unless it's for medical reasons a Siberians coat should only be washed and brushed as needed, never cut or shaved.

then why do people shave bordercollies

Border Collies also come in a smooth coat. Naturally short hair.

Smooth coat is dominant in dogs, long hair is recessive. So even though you see mostly long haired BCs, that's the recessive.

this has nothing to do with dogs, but how can you get rid of mice with out poison or mice traps? I have mice in the shed i store hay, chicken food, hard dog food, and rabbit food in. I don't want to use traps because the dogs come in there and i don't want them to get hurt, and poison because of the same reason and there is food in there. I HATE MICE

If you give mice nothing to eat, drink or bed in, generally they have nothing to hang around for. If you are leaving tid-bits anywhere, then as you know, they will figure out how to get it. We always had to use air tight, chew proof containers, ie: Steel garbage cans, etc. and never left a morsel of anything anywhere. Straw, hay and shavings are good for mice to use to make nests to make more mice, so...
Live traps are another option...
Cats UTD on their shots usually work well too.
