Sled dog breeding

Looking at her as a dog lover and pet owner she is lovely.

But looking at her as a breeder, I would recommend getting her spayed. She is unsound in conformation and should not be bred. Her front and her rear are straight. Siberians have angled shoulders for endurance and shock absorbtion. Straight rears dont have the power and propulsion needed, and lead to arthritis, which could be the hip pains you mentioned earlier. And any dog with bad hips should not be bred anyway. Also that tail is so snapped to her back that all her pups will have it as well.. She has an insuffient stop. And her chest is not as deep as it should be. These are major faults in Siberians.

My Siberians eat grass all the time. My Rottie ate a lot of grass when I first cut back her feed and put her on a strict diet, she thought was still starving, lol. My Belgian hardly ever eats grass. Dogs eat grass for different reasons, vitamin/minerals, when they have worms, and to help with hair balls. I poop scoop my yard twice a week, I have to with 6 dogs. And when I see grass in their poo I also see lots of hair. I'd check your dog for worms, maybe give her a thorough grooming and see if she is still eating the grass.

she got de-worming stuff, but I'll groom her out. Meringue is short haired so i don't think she has hairballs. Is there any thing I can add to her diet if she is lacking in vitamin/minerals?

also any ideas for dog entertainment. Meringue is bored. She does get a meat bone every other day, has about 10 toys and gets ran at least 3 times a week.
The other dogs can get to hurt to play, but sadly they don't like to play with Meringue. She also acts like she is ADD so toys don't keep her interested long.

They have multi vitamins at pet stores. Maybe try 1 and see if it helps. Even short haired dogs can get hair balls if they are heavy shedders. I groom my dogs at least weekly, and during blow I groom daily. It helps but don't stop the hair balls, lol. I actually grow oat and wheat grass for them in buckets for when they need grass. When the grass gets too long, I give it to the geese and chickens for mowing and start over. My cats get the same treatment with a window garden box. Can you say spoiled?

Siberians need to run, and they need a pack or at least their owner/handler interaction. Try taking her jogging with you, or maybe put together some jumps and have her run and jump with you. Does she play fetch? Siberians are born and bred for running, get her doing that and you will make her happy. A tired Siberian is a happy one.

My Siberians favorite game is tag. Tag is very noisy, involves body slams and lots of running. Sometimes I play with them, I'm not as fast, but I turn around trees and obstacles to make them work to jump on me. All 4 of my Siberians also love agility. I'm building some cheap PVC jumps for us here at home to help keep them entertained and for training and exercise.

My crew also have their own 3 foot tall, 5 foot round stock tank to jump in and out of to cool off. The rottie is the only one who don't jump in, and I think it's because of how tall it is. She has a big bucket to cool off in and goes swimming in the river during her walks.

she can jump for the life of her. Like i said, she gets ran at least 3 times a week. we are up to 2 and 1/2 miles. its they days she doesn't run. i have knee problems so jogging isn't an option. she can catch like a pro, but doesn't bring it back lol

Go to a flea market and buy a bunch of tennis balls. They are cheap there, I think I have brought over 100 because my dogs tear them apart eventually, lol. Just load a bucket and throw them for her. When you run out, go pick them up, try and aim for the same general area so you don't have far to walk. Another way would be to throw a ball, after she catches, get her attention, show her the new ball, and see if she will bring the one she has back. If she does, reward her with treats or pets and repeat. I taught Dawn to retrieve a little. She stops before Rascal will, but she retrieves. My trainer's jaw about hit the floor when he saw a Siberian playing fetch, lol.

i need things for her to do when I'm not able to play with her.

If your not there to keep her entertained she needs either another high energy running dog companion, or to be crated with something interesting. I have found that a Kong filled with peanut butter and frozen overnight is a great way to keep dogs occupied for hours trying to get the peanut butter out. It helps some dogs with crate fears, even some dogs who have separation anxiety. It is also a great way to keep teething pups from chewing everything in sight.
