Sleeping babies

Oh, my little darlings look so sweet when they are sleeping.....

My heating lamp thing arrived, its a ceramic one so it doesn't make light..... and the second it gets dark they all lie down and drop FAST asleep - So dang cute - but no way I'll go in there with a camera and flash.....

I have the temp at around 86-87 - they're not bunched up so seem to be pretty comfortable.

There might be another post about ceramic heat lamps, but just in case...

Be sure to put a guard of some type on the reflector (not just the four metal bars that come with it). I fashioned one out of chicken wire. The lamp gets extremely hot and can burn the chicks severely if they come in contact with it.

My brooder is made of those storage shelves, the cube wire things, its totally enclosed, I have the lamp on top of the wire cube. The can't touch it - well not yet big enough, and when they are big enough I don't think they'll need it.
