2x 5-week old chicks (Easter egger & welsummer), moved from basement (65-70 degrees) to garage yesterday (55 degrees during day, but dropped to 30s in the evening).
They had a heat lamp and ”perch” under it (flat, no roost bar, see photo), which they have been sleeping on in basement.
They were active all day. As temp dropped (10-11pm), they were repeatedly jumping on perch under lamp: they’d slowly lay down, wings spreading to some degree, slumping on side/falling over/off perch, (almost looked like paralysis).
New to chickens. I was concerned and brought them back inside.
What might this behavior suggest? Too cold, too exhausted?
Photo attached.
Thank you!
