Sleeping in nest box

I feel like I'm missing something, is there a reason people discourage birds from nesting in the box?

Nest boxes are for egg laying. Sleeping overnight in the box isn't nesting, it's a poop factory. Only exception would be a broody hen, as she incubates her eggs day and night.
