Now two of the girls are laying an egg a day. One egg is always smaller than the other, so I figure it's two different ladies. Anyway, they have not used the nesting box to lay...just to sleep on and poop in, so I gave up and took it out. They now lay in the back corners of the coop, so I have to use a small rake to carefully scoop the eggs out of the shavings. I then dig around to make sure an egg didn't get covered up by moving chickens. Kind of annoying since I put in an egg door. Maybe I will make some changes to the back of the coop...hmmmm...
I may build some different nesting boxes...something more traditional. Who knows.
At least my eggs are coming in!! I have spent $300 so far and have $1 worth of eggs... I am so glad I am also doing it mainly for the interest factor...okay, and the fun factor.
