Sleepy Girl all the time past 2 weeks..

Kathy ... how much of the corid can i put into a pint feeder... i stared yesterday with 1/16 tsp...hoping thats enough... i just didnt want to over medicate.

Thanks
robin
Target dose in mg is:
1 quart - 240mg
1 pint - 120mg
1 cup - 60mg

Powder
1/16 teaspoon has ~33.75mg
1/8 teaspoon has ~67.5mg
1/4 teaspoon has ~135mg
1/2 teaspoon has ~270mg

Liquid
1/16 teaspoon has 30mg
1/8 teaspoon has 60mg
1/4 teaspoon has 120mg
1/2 teaspoon has 240mg

So for one pint I would use 1/4 teaspoon, which is just a little more than is needed, but a much better choice than too little. Make sense?

Sick birds really do need to be in where it's warm.

Ok.. the heat lamp is on high... we will check the tempinthe coop where she is to ensure that shes staying warm. Thank you... will post updates.....as we go through the week. I hope she is feeling better this week.

Looks like maybe we might be on the mend... diarrhea has stopped.... she still seems punky... but at least stands up when i come in to ck. Eating and drinking pretty well... just not up and around... she seems content to just stay put with her heat lamp...

Well today is day 7 of the corid... no diarrhea, but she snot really drinking and eating like she was... back to being sleepy, just not as severe as before...but still just kind of meh......and blah...... so what to do next..... i have the general antiobiotic and probiotics, vitamjns..ans electrolytes..... should instart her on those... i think the corid said only 7 days...

Thoughts please

I feel your pain Babybird. I have a Speckled Sussex with these same symptoms. She is currently in a dog kennel in the house. When I picked her up yesterday, she seemed really warm.

We just dewormed about 4 weeks ago, and used Corid in their water the final 5 days of the egg withdrawal. I had a Welsummer that had the same exact symptoms 4 weeks ago, then a Buff Orpington 3 weeks ago. I'm at a loss as to what this is. And we're getting more eggs than we ever have before, so most of the 21 hens are strong and healthy.

Thanks brazsochick... we dont have a dog kennel... Im not sure if i could stand the smell inside........shes separated in the coop under the heat lamp.... Im just not sure what to do next....... if she were a person one might think she had the blues.... maybe i will bring her in... i dont have anything but a big box to keep her in... she seems warm when i pick her up. And just seems to enjoy the cuddling.....Just noticed that shes not drinking like she did the past couple of days... she acts like she wants to go out, but just wont with the others....

i will have to take some pics of her.... shes such a sweetie... thanks for the feedback....

it hasnt been rainy or anything... not sur why all of a sudden its just one bird.....

hopefully someone will have some advice.
