1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Buff Orpington, 9 months old, about 6.5#, recently gaining weight (no weight loss).
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Sleepy, sleepy, sleepy. Sleeps standing up. Sleeps sitting down. Currently sitting on my dining room table, sleeping standing up. Wakes up for a few seconds if there is a noise. Goes back to sleep quickly. ** Now he's laying down and sleeping.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
Just today. He left the coop normally. Not sure if he made it to breakfast. I was walking by him and he didn't move, like he normally would. I looked down at him and his eyes slowly closed. I picked him up and he went back to sleep. (I can normally pick him up - no problem.) I carried him to the house, set up a comfy place to lay down, and set him down. I went inside to look up what to do. When I came back, he was outside the box, laying down, sleeping.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
No.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
No.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
Nothing. The flock was treated with Corid last week. The month before, the flock was treated with Wazine.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
The last two days, he has been eating a LOT. Like his face in the bowl eating a lot. He has probably gained a little weight.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Soft, brown. No white. (That was from today, after I put him in the box. He got out pooped and then laid in it. I think his chest kinda slumped into the poo when he fell into the poop.)
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
Brought him into the house, gently wiped his face with a wet q-tip, to make sure there was no drainage from eyes or nose. Everything there is fine. Breathing is fine.
Offered water and feed. He won't eat or drink.
He will answer the other rooster's call and he did some minor grooming before laying down to sleep again.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
No vet to treat chickens
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
Nothing to show.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Large coop, sand on the floor, roost.
