Slightly Lethargic Chick - Should I be Concerned?

I know what you're saying, I feel like the pasty butt expert! I spent a whole night thinking I was going to have to cull my little with the worst case. I finally got him through it and he's still kicking at almost 7 weeks. He's even mostly caught up on growth!
Good luck with your Junie! Thank you for the updates.

Thanks so much for this encouraging story! Fortunately, I’ve never had to deal with pasty butt before, but I can only imagine!

Junie seems okay tonight - I obsess over her crop (is it too squishy, too firm etc.), but she’s passing mostly solid poop every 20 - 30 minutes it seems (yes, I check on her that often), so I’m trying to talk myself off the ledge by repeating: If poop’s coming out, the system is working :lau .

Hopefully a few more days of regular eating and drinking and rest will get her acting more like a normal chick. And if she ends up more stunted and not a great layer as an adult due to this illness, I’m okay with that. As long as she’s healthy and happy with regards to everything else :love.

Hey everyone!

Thought I’d give an update on my little June Bug. She’s doing much better! Eating lots, normal poop, gaining weight (yes, I’ve been weighing her everyday with our postage/kitchen scale).

She‘s back in the main brooder with her brother and sisters.
Still smaller than them, but hopefully she’ll catch up eventually. I took them outside for their first day in the run/coop (sectioned off from the big chickens, of course), and she was the first to come out of the pet carrier.

In the first picture, she’s on the right. In the second picture, she’s the one on the far left, and the third picture is evidence that this ordeal has spoiled her rotten. She likes to sit on my shoulder whenever I let her :wee.
Anyway, thank you all for your support and advice! :love

Hey everyone!!!! It's been months since I posted about my little June Biscuit and I thought you all would like to hear how she's doing. To my delight, she is doing great! Still not sure what the original issue was with her, but I'm leaning toward ingesting a wood flake that got slightly stuck in her digestive system (because she pretty much eats anything she sees ...). Anyway, I'm attaching some pictures. She was pretty darn spoiled as a baby, but she's finding her way around the larger flock (she knows not to panic when the older hens eyeball her and she is good about staying out of the way). Anyway, thanks again for all your support!

I love Junie! So glad to hear all is well. My avatar is one of two BR's I have. Duster and Cuda. This is Duster and she is my fav. Follows me around and she is the first to come running. Beautiful photos! Not spoiled at all! Thank you for the update! :love

OMGOODNES! Adorbs! When I got Junie, I was going for Olive Eggers and a Buckeye (had never had either), and decided to get one more. Since I had an old lady BR at home (my Alice will be 8 this spring), I knew I had to get another. The best part was when I stuck my hand in the bin to see who to get, Junie ran over and pecked me and I said, “Well, I guess you’re coming home with me!” :wee
