I'm kind of thinking they're probably all pullets, since leghorns are an egg breed -- TSC might possibly sell them mixed, but more likely as straight run female.

I agree that I would sell a group of nice looking pullets like that for more than they would be worth to me in meat. I could easily get $15 per bird for point of lay birds like that!

Hey thanks, guys...

That's a pleasant thought that they'd all be pullets, but I didn't know you could sex leghorns as day-olds. For that matter, I can't sex them right now! I was just out looking them over good, trying to separate the roosters from the hens. I was going to cut my losses and butcher the roosters now and add the pullets to my egg-laying flock, but for all I can tell they could all be roosters, they could all be hens, or they could be a mix and I just can't tell! The combs are all roughly the same size, pinkish close to the head and more yellow on the tips. Is anybody able to tell from the picture I posted earlier on this thread?

At first I was disappointed to not have any meaties, and even though I wouldn't have bought leghorns, this could actually work out okay...

They're a bit wild right now. We really haven't done anything with them other than feed, water and move them for 8 weeks because like I said earlier, they've been destined for slaughter (so we thought) - no need to make friends. My kids love our other hens. I suppose these would warm up to them in time(though I've heard Leghorns are flighty...).

That is pretty funny that someone wanted Leghorns and got CX's! When I called TSC the woman said, "Oh, that doesn't surprise me. We've had a lot of that this year."
