LOL

my better half helped me to ziptie a crower this evening, I think she is hooked

several new white birds still on QT.

Moved the several reds and red tuxs to Alachua- they are now part of "project 235", as in "just off of cty rte 235".

and unloading the brooders this week, almost time to start over- white birds only, plan on setting some of our own eggs around July 1st.

and of course, really hope it stays hot and dry so I can risk heat stroke building pens in the heat this weekend...

yup. can't feather sex the white birds so we will zip tie the roos when they crow. you can also use zipties as your own marker/records system.

all males get bright orange bands- left leg, here.
and all females from recent May 1 hatch get pink zips, older hens are marked with gray zips, lol. etc.

eta may v. june 1 hatch, they are over 6 weeks old now.

Yep Zips Are The Bomb For Marking Birds For Any Reason, Be It Sex, Hatch/batch, Bloodlines... You Name It. I Use Them To Mark Batch And Yr On Many Pheasant Speces I Have Here. And For Non Color Sexable Coturnix As Well As Batches.

really makes sense to observe the 'veterans'. get to pick up a lot of neat tricks along the way. why re invent the wheel?
(altho i admit loving the zip ties for fixing just about anything. i zip tied a thriving rose branch that got knocked off, hoping to keep it upright until the bloom fades. (DH asked - what are you doing?))
