Slow Night Here In Quailville

Well, it's one thing after another. I was doing the feeding and watering and came across a rat snake that got it's self trapped inside of a quail cage. I had 3 GG bob whites per cage and now I have 4 in a cage and 0 in another. That snake swallowed one of the quail and couldn't get back out. So the 1 surviver was all freaked out, (so was I) and there was the other quail dead on the floor. I guess that one probably broke it's neck. I know if it was me thats what would have happened.

I have got to get some smaller wire so that don't happen again. I have 1 more cage that a snake can get into that I have to fix.

Gator hunting season starts officially the evening of August 15. However, there won't be much hunting on North Central Florida lakes. Water levels are at an all-time low- even airboats are stuck.

My gosh, hard to believe this thread has been dead this long. I just wanted to gripe my crop of quail for this year all got loose when the high winds last night blew their pen over the creek bank. Dang, they were scheduled for freezer camp in two weeks.

I already have a pair of quail and three chukar that run around the barn, but these guys have completely disappeared.

Hatched and escaped a couple of months ago. That's what happens when you let kids help you feed, or let your goats graze the yard to let your birds out!

Lol yea I had 1 runnin around here for about 3 months one time but it finally disappeared. Tried like all get out to catch the sucker back up but he wasnt having any part of that.
