I finally got a egg from one of my quail today. It was about half the size of the ones I ordered. I guess that is normal. I changed the kind of light that I was using in the coop & moved the hours of light around. The light I used made a change for the better but I have good & bad from changing the hours.

I had a fluorescent light in there that acts more like a incandescent (more red then blue spectrum) but changed it to one with more blue spectrum. It is called a daylight bulb & they are very easy on the eyes & much easier to see by. I think the quail like it also because I finally got a egg.

I also stopped the light from coming on before daylight & have it staying on longer of the evening. They were getting to restless before I was going out to turn them loose & tearing things up so this stopped this problem. It also gives me a ton of time of the evening if I don't get home until late. The down side is all of my chickens were done laying by 10AM but today it was like 2PM. I don't know if that is why but it is wired that the is the first time they laid that late.

I've heard that it is better for them to have more light in the morning, so they'll still go to roost with a natural sunset. I for one am not going to get up at 4 am to turn my birds lights on, they'll just have to make do

Mine still go to the coop close to the same time & some will go to roost others scratch around on the floor until I feed them. Most of them come down to have a bite then & go back to roost. It seems to have calmed them down but they seemed to be off in there laying today.

wow what a wild week one of the owners of the store i work out quit

i set more eggs not one set but 3 sets. got 2 brooders with chicks in them a wife thats starting to complain about being preg and a little girl thats thinks we are going to forget her after the baby is born

Its been a long week and the weekend was to short
