I discovered a GG bob white this morning with a damaged foot, ankle. What ever that part is where the leg is connected to the toes. It apparently hasn't eaten because it feels very light. The skin is gone in some places but still there in others but the would is more at the point of connection and I can see some bone. What I did is I brought it in and rinsed it off and dried it. Then put triple antibiotic on it. The quail is inside in a small cage with food and water. I gave it chick starter in hopes of getting it to eat. I'm sure wrapping the foot will just cause more problems from the bandaging getting stuck so I didn't wrap or cover it at all.
Is there anything else I should do? I don't have any oral or injectable antibiotics. I'm thinking it may have injured itself yesterday morning when a coon got to my Gambel roo thru the cage wire. The hen got some feathers pulled out around her neck but is uninjured. Bob whites are so flighty i'm sure all the ruckus with the Gambels had the bob whites freaking out. They're around the corner from the Gambel but it's possible they could have seen what was going on.
Anyway, is there anything else I can do to help the GG? I have Poly Vi Sol, should I put some in it's water maybe?
