We had a mink attack out chickens. We caught it in the act and it didn't even care that we were there. He went for a chicken right by me. I threated to get a hunting stand and sit out there with a gun till he came back. Put a trap out and he never did come back. What a horrbile thing to go thru for you.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I lost a few chickens a year or so ago to a weasel same sounding wounds. The weasel climed a 7' wood fence to get in. Was even brave enough to attack our Jack Russels it managed to get away. Just so you know i does not matter how big their body is if their head will fit in they can get in .
