I have a SLW that is approximately eight weeks old, and I really think that he is a cockerel. This is a problem since I can't keep roosters, and and I'm very worried he might start crowing while we are on vacation.

I've heard that SLWs mature earlier than other breeds, but Im not really holding out any hope for this guy, haha. This is mostly just a precaution. Its a shame really, hes so sweet and mild >u<

Anyways, so he is a cockerel, right?

If he is a cockerel and If you live in the Dallas area, please let me know if you would like to take him! We really want to give him away before we go on vacation ^u^

Do SLW's have different tails then? Mine's tail seems kind of roo-ish.
I'll also take a picture of her legs to see if they're thick

Wyandotte pullets often have pink in their combs at any early age. A cockerel of that age would have much larger, redder comb and wattles. Plus, I think yours just has a very feminine look overall.

Here's a photo of a couple of my BLR wyandottes. They are 8.5 weeks old. The one in front is a pullet and the one behind her is a cockerel.
