I raised 11 last summer and of all my flocks who are in separate coops/pens they were the youngest of the LF and the only ones to peck at each other once they had to stay in the coop. I butchered 7 young hens two weekends ago and only saved back four who are now behaving since they are now in w/my BO's and the BO roo.

How are yours? They seem happy...where did you get your's from? Mine came from a hatchery and had/have a lot more gold in the head/neck feathers. Mine also did not all look the same- they were my most expensive chicks and ended in the freezer:(

I have had my silver laced wyandottes seperated off for a week now... What is the rule? Is it three weeks or so until you "for sure" have purebred eggs? I have been checking fertility in the eggs that I collect and all is good there.
These birds are from a hatchery. I would really like to find some hatching eggs from some good stock to mix in with them. I love my roo, his name is Silver. (no big surprise there) I will post pics of him and his girls tomorrow if anyone is interested?

What Was I Thinking: If you want to pay for shipping, I will ship you a dozen eggs on Monday Jan 5. I think once I find out the answer to the purebred question I will be putting a dozen in the incubator myself. Let me know

Hi Snowy, when I get the answer to my question on how long it takes after you seperate them I'd be happy to send you a dozen of the silvers. I don't have the goldens seperated off anymore so I can only offer the silvers. I have some welsummers and some blue and partridge cochins in the incubator due on New Years Eve. I'm going to put some of the silver eggs in there after the others are done hatchin out. I will keep you updated. Thanks

sounds great, guess we could do a search or a google...

What happened w/the G's? I keep thinking I may get a GLW roo someday...for the four hens. And I'd keep a roo for the SLW girls, too, from the ones who hatch out from you...no real hurry, it was 1 degree earlier this evening, wind blowing, and "incubator" won't be empty till end of Jan with my "tests" but please don't forget!
